I think a lot. A whole damn lot that sometimes I worry for myself. I can spend hours in the dark alone with my thoughts, no sound, no device. Just I and my thoughts. I occasionally try to analyse what I mostly think about and I discovered that most of it (my thoughts) were about strategizing and preparing myself for any case scenario. Good or bad. I just like to be mentally prepared to avoid reacting the wrong way. But as humans that we are, no matter how much we plan…there would be missing loopholes, usually in lumps of sympathy, affection and yes…home training. You thought you’d put up a tough face but hehehe…guess who broke down, like a melting ice cream.
Anyways, below I would be sharing 20 things my life so far has thought me. More like the strategies or things I have unconsciously incorporated into my lifestyle that has shaped me to where I am now. Not perfect but we worth the picture still.
Keep putting in the work today:
You might not see the benefit now, but in due time it would manifest and it would bloom so beautifully leaving no hidden cracks. It’s hard, I know but trust me it would be worth it, soon.
Be the nice person:
With a meek heart, be the one to care. Put yourself on the line for others. Speak nicely to strangers. Do random acts of kindness. Say Please, Thank You and Excuse Me. Be the better person, not because people are watching but for the peace and joy it gives.
Guide your instincts:
You are in charge of your thoughts, and what often times we regard as a feeling. To do so, you must read the signs, study your environment, listen to your conscience, ask questions, seek understanding by acquiring knowledge.
No one’s going to love
you until you love yourself:
Just love yourself. Also know that you don’t need any validation from anyone during this process of validation. Have quiet times with yourself, admire yourself – not just your body curve and your beautiful physique, but your soul, the energy you give off, the process and the person deep down the mass of flesh and outer appearance.
Celebrate your milestones:
Just got a 100 followers on Instagram? Yay! Finally able to submit that assignment? Amazing. Talked to that person today? Great. Personally, I am usually very nervous making official calls or just people I haven’t spoken to before. I could procrastinate making that call for days and if possible weeks, so whenever I finally do I celebrate myself like its my birthday. You’re doing amazing! Your achievement is perfect.
Allow yourself celebrate other people’s wins:
Let it inspire you. You are not missing out on anything. Your time is coming. Your own is not the worst. Be genuinely happy for them.
Keep your head up, always:
Not sometimes, but always. Walk tall, be confident. The world doesn’t hate you. Embrace love and positivity, without bringing others down.
It’s beautiful to see the smiles on their faces. And even if they don’t smile, you expressed yourself and that’s great.
Remember that ‘Only in Death Are We A Master’
Take Quick Naps:
Rest. Take care of your health.
Fight for what you believe in, even if you fight alone:
Courage would see you through.
Allow yourself learn, un-learn and re-learn new ideologies:
Give room for growth.
People would be mean and rude to you for no reason, let them.
But don’t change for them. Cancel negativity.
Where you are now is not where you’d be forever:
It’s a stepping stone, trust the process.
Keep saying what you see in your future. Watch it gradually come into existence. Watch it motivate you.
Enjoy the Present:
Don’t wait for ‘perfection’. Now, counts.
Pray for your friends:
They need you.
Let God use you to help others out of pain.
Help when you can.
Don’t be Afraid To Start Again.
