First Flatlay!

‘So be proud of yourself and make yourself some pancakes’

So I was feeling inspired on Sunday evening and decided to try out some flatlays.

Okay. First of all. What are flatlays?

Let’s break it down…flat-lays.

Things that are laid down flat or on a flat surface that people use to create moodbaords or product displays. Or just basically any thing. Understood?

Flatlay photography is a great way to showcase your products and tell your stories on your social media, blog or otherwise. They are no rules as you can explore and be as creative as possible.

Now, this is not a post that shares tips on creating flatlays because I can’t yet give what I don’t have. I’m learning and with constant practice comes perfection, maybe not necessarily perfection but like you tend to get better than you were before and that’s growth. So be proud of yourself and make yourself some pancakes.

Anyways, the flatlays turned out nice after I edited them using VSCOCam as usual, even though I could clearly see the imperfection and it was kinda bland with no props and stuff. But first time issa try yeah? (Says no one else but me).

So…I decided to make a post with it.

Book

The name of the book there is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Coovey. It was given to me at work for us to review. You needed to see how excited I was to get the book like ‘Aww, A GIFT…they lurh me‘. Thing is I didn’t plan on reading it, because motivational books don’t work for me at all, like no-no, but I thought it would look cute in a shelf so I went for it. End of the matter, I read a few pages and did a quick summary the morning of the review and had some valid points to add to the conversation. And yeah, what’s with people that carry motivational books because my guy we both know you’re not going to read that ‘Aspire to acquire’ book (no shade) in a danfo bus while the conductor is screaming ‘ Obalende, ‘balande, Falomo, hol ya change o‘ or plying the beautiful roads of Owerri. Seriously, why though?

Hint: The (no shade) looked like a complete shade and it would have looked genuine if it wasn’t even there at all. Being there just sparked some sort of conversation though as to why I thought the ‘aspire to acquire’ looked shady. I’m kidding…it was a SHADE. Jokes on you.

/This is me talking to myself/ Ignore.

Fruit Works Body Butter

The content of that pink tub smells divine. And it’s so soft and makes your skin soft. It actually belongs to my sister but it’s cute so I’m like you know how there’s always a pretty friend who outshines everyone in pictures? Yeah that’s the one. This was that pretty friend.

Boots Glycerine & Rosewater.

It’s a toner I use only in the night because it makes my skin so smooth. Truth is I don’t think I ever notice any difference on my skin like making it clearer or brighter but it’s just alright. And I desperately needed to buy some skincare stuff that day so yeah, that’s it. I’ve gone on and off with it for years. But when I used it to mix my black soap once, alongside other ingredients – the outcome was amazing.

Keep creating.

Love xx.

  1. Hello Ugonna!

Fantastic write up again. Hope the pancake treat covered the write up accomplishment as well?

Em.. please how did you solve for the backdrop though? Is that a drawing board? Or a ‘flatlay’ table?

Books eh? I hear it is more about what they can draw out from you rather than… you know, vice versa.

There’s the 8th habit now (same author, I hope), and I am thinking I will attempt similar with it.

    Thanks for sharing, really.

Flatlays just might be the solution to my problem of grouping items (for archiving sakes) and in a fun and creative way too.

    Cheers!

    P.S.

I have mentally reworded the line about the podcasts to read: Why is she not doing it already?!

Please do give it a go. Topics could include: anything & everything. Bless.
